Oh hey guys.

Here are some shots (some a bit blurry – sorry, running around like a mad woman)  from the Tom Sawyer themed baby shower my mom and I threw for my sister last Sunday.  I’m exhausted, but we had a great time.  My sister is one of those nutty folks who actually likes playing games at parties, so we did it up, playing guess who is who with guest and celebrity photos, a slingshot shooting range, baby food tasting, and some good old fashioned baby themed Pictionary.  Despite getting rained out halfway through the day, I’m pretty pleased with the way everything came out – lots of details, especially considering we were working with a limited budget (I’m looking at you, Jessica Simpson).  Enjoy!

Some details on the games:

Who Dunnit: Match the numbers on the hanging photos to a list of party guests and celebrities.  I asked guests to email photos of themselves to me along with their RSVP (if it was convenient and they wanted to play, of course.)

Sure Shootin’: Shoot glass marbles through tissue paper targets with a slingshot.  The targets are simply tissue paper and embroidery hoops strung up with twine.  Thankfully, the marbles went through the tissue PERFECTLY (hooray, hooray, hooray!)  I’m totally bringing this back for one of Faby’s birthday parties someday (when she’s old enough to, ya know, not eat marbles)

Pen a Note: Write a note on a diaper to be mixed in with the newborn diaper stash and make new parents giggle.

Good Eatin’: Ye ole baby food tasting, but classed up a bit – all fruits and veggies, served in glass cups on numbered platters to be tasted with wooden stir sticks.

Pictionary: It’s Pictionary.,  But about babies.  Drawing labor is funny.  Sort of.

The bottle trophies were totally swiped from a Pinterest post – just cheap bottles glued to taper candle holders and spray painted.  Too funny not to do it.

Wow!! So impressive! Loved the knapsacks on sticks- what do you call those things again?? And what was the game/decoration with the large, colorful, hanging circles? That looked amazing!! You’re an awesome sister, Karyn. 🙂

Thanks, lovely! The hanging circles were the targets for our sharp shootin’ game – I got a slingshot and some glass marbles, then made the targets from tissue paper and embroidery hoops. In typical me fashion, I did not test it ahead of time, so I had no idea if it would work – but the marbles made perfect holes in the tissue paper targets and it was a blast! I’m pretty proud of that one, really. 😉 Even Fave dug it.

Absolutely creatively fantastic! LOVED the gold, silver, bronze trophies!!! Can I adopt you? You create like my four daughters! What was in the little “hobo bundles?”

Why thank you, Palmer ladies! I’m honored. I couldn’t have pulled this off without my mom. :). The hobo bundles were the favors and contained my mama’s molasses cookies.

Absolutely too cute for words! Love the Tom Sawyer theme. You and your mom are just too creative and thoughtful. Give your sis and big hug and congrats from me! 🙂
