Lovely friends –

It has been a long, crowded, hot summer full of projects and tantrums and giggles and growth.  We have added six chickens to our family.  Fable has added dozens of words to her vocabulary, including orange, but not including red, green, or blue.  I got to officiate not one but two beautiful weddings.  We’ve gutted and rebuilt a room of our home, visited friends and family, and generally had a lovely time.  And I’ve missed you.  And it is my absolute joy today to welcome you back to GOC with the reveal of one of our summer projects, of which I am incredibly proud, and a fantastic giveaway for you.  Yay fall!

I’ve come to love my friends at Catbird Baby this year – loved working with them and learning about the carrier industry, loved their creativity and the way they welcomed me and embraced what I can contribute.  Last June, Beth and Nicole flew up to Portland, and together with my gorgeous friend Liz of Fishgate Films, a few friends, and this lovely city, we made The Catbird Seat, which has become one of my very favorite things.  I’m so glad to finally share it with you!!!

Catbird Baby makes a fantastic couple of carriers, and they have such a heart for families and babies and safety and connection.  It has been my privilege to work with them, to use their wonderful product to carry my girl, and now, to share it with you!  Catbird Baby has generously offered one winner their choice of the carriers featured in The Catbird Seat.  You can choose the Catbird Baby Mei Tai in Sunset or the Annika print, or the Catbird Baby Pikkolo in Zephyr Gray or Georgia print.

Both of these carriers offer four positions (front facing in, front facing out, hip, and high back carries) and both are fabulous for babes 8-40 lbs with no infant insert necessary (YAY!  I hate me an infant insert.)  Either one would be a fantastic addition to your existing carrier collection, or a wonderful first or only carrier for families just getting started with babywearing.  You also get my help making sure you are completely hooked up with all the tutorials and answers you need to make sure you’re using your new carrier well (you sort of already have that and can email me anytime, but hey, free carrier!!)

Details on how to enter are below!  If you need help choosing, well, you know where to find me! A winner will be chosen and contacted on Saturday!

  • Nancy Barnes September 25, 2014 at 7:17 am

i looooove the mei tai in sunset! totally excited about this giveaway. 🙂

  • Lizzie September 25, 2014 at 7:20 am

I’d get the sunset mai tai. I’ve never tried a MT before – I’m more of a wrapper – and that color is perfect for autumn! We have a pikkolo but I’ve never gotten the hang of it. This post inspired me to give it another try.

  • Jayme Jo September 25, 2014 at 7:37 am

Love me some Sunset Mai Tai yo. Gorgeous color

  • Timi September 25, 2014 at 7:42 am

Awesome giveaway!! I am pregnant with my third and my second will only be 16 months when the baby is born so I see a lot of baby wearing in my future.

  • Mary September 25, 2014 at 7:46 am

Sounds like an absolutely fabulous summer, but happy to know some new reads are coming up soon on the site!

  • Angelina September 25, 2014 at 8:09 am

I have been looking for a carrier that isn’t bulky and is really comfortable for baby. After looking at the video and checking out the website, the catbird baby pikkolo meets both of these qualities. The Zephyr and Georgia prints are gorgeous! Fresh, fashionable and convenient. Love love love!

  • Andrea September 25, 2014 at 8:11 am

How fun! That video is so great! I would love the mei tie in sunset, such a statement piece!

  • nicole September 25, 2014 at 8:13 am

    Ooh, I love that orange

  • Erika September 25, 2014 at 8:15 am

The catbird baby mei tei looks so comfortable.

    • Erika September 25, 2014 at 8:19 am

… Ive tried on and have significantly noticed the difference between carriers that support babies legs up and ones that dont. That coupled with the easyness of putting it on and having your baby tight against you…there’s nothing better. For you or your baby.

  • Liliana G September 25, 2014 at 8:16 am

I would love to win!! Id choose the catbird Baby Pikkolo in Zephyr Gray

  • Marissa September 25, 2014 at 8:19 am

  • Vilija September 25, 2014 at 8:20 am

This mei-tai looks like it would be perfect to have on hand for runs to the store when I would usually rebozo, but don’t want to deal with Mr. grabby-hands. What a fun collaboration. Do you think the color of your cRrier has influenced your LO’s vocabulary?

    • karyn September 25, 2014 at 9:26 am

MAYBE! I never thought of that. Whaddaya know. Powerful stuff! 😉

    I’d choose the Zephyr pikkolo.

  • Evie September 25, 2014 at 8:33 am

I love how you are able to interact with Fable in the video! Her reaching to touch the roses just kills me!

  • Sara Richmond September 25, 2014 at 8:33 am

You’re so lovely for sharing babywearing with so many others.

I am not quite sure which one I would pick as I would need to figure which one would best suit my friend. She has twins, one with a heart defect, and I would love for her to start babywearing. This would be the perfect way for that to happen.

    So excited for the giveaway.

Also, you and Fabes were gorgeous as always. 🙂

  • Kestrel September 25, 2014 at 8:35 am

Can’t decide between the Zephyr Pikkolo or the Moss Mei Tai. I guess the mei tai since I have an SSC on the way.

  • Kelly September 25, 2014 at 8:36 am

Love it! Also, too funny: another mom friend posted yesterday about her daughter’s vocabulary, which includes orange but excludes all other colors. Hm.

    • karyn September 25, 2014 at 9:27 am

What is the deal with orange? Someone research this, please. 😉

  • Kate September 25, 2014 at 11:15 am

What a beautiful film! Thanks for sharing with us. I love the Pikkolo Georgia print, but I think the Zephyr would suit us best since it has the lovely hood for sleepyheads. My 17-mo old and I love the back carry for strolling around town and for those afternoons she just wants to be in my arms but I need to be making our dinner.

  • Wander September 25, 2014 at 11:22 am

    Amazing!

  • anne stewart September 25, 2014 at 11:26 am

    I love the georgia piccolo!

  • Alicia September 25, 2014 at 11:29 am

I love these! I’d like the mei tai, is the Annika too girly for my boys? I like the sunset too 🙂

  • Kate September 25, 2014 at 11:36 am

I know I already commented, but having watched the video again, and re-reading your tutorials on the back-carry for the MT, I think I’d prefer the MT in sunset (should fortune shine down on me and my little one :). I love that you can carry Fable up nice and high with the MT; my Beco Gemini doesn’t allow for a higher back carry like that, and I think Helene would love being in the Catbird seat like your darling Fable. 🙂

  • Rachel Davis September 25, 2014 at 11:38 am

    What a sweet video!

  • Bethany M. September 25, 2014 at 11:40 am

  • Kat September 25, 2014 at 11:40 am

Catbird Baby Mei Tai in Sunset definitely! My boys, Jamison and Shepard, would love it! I bet the hubby would even wear this one! Excited for this giveaway!

  • Cat September 25, 2014 at 11:47 am

I would choose the Catbird Baby Mei Tai in the Annika print – we have our 2nd little coming in November, and I’d love to be able for both me and hubby to wear our kiddos (we have one Mei Tai already) to go on family walks or outings. Print because prints are just more fun, I think 🙂 And hooray for not needing an infant insert! Planning on wearing #2 quite a bit, but it’s hot here in So Cal, so the less material on me, the better for keeping us both comfortably cool.

  • Windsor September 25, 2014 at 12:01 pm

The color of the sunset catbird mei tai is to die for! What a perfect fall carrier. You two looked great in the video!

I gave birth to my first in December and, as you know, my whole life has changed. 🙂 As for the giveaway, I would choose the Pikkolo because structured carriers seem easier to figure out, (although I do want to learn more about woven warps!) and the Georgia print because I love color!
