Good Yarn - Girl of Cardigan

This may sound sorta trivial, but I have a really hard time finding hats.

*tear*

I know there are probably bigger problems in the world, but finding a hat with just the right amount of slouch, in a good color, that isn’t itchy, has become a sort of holy grail quest in my life.  Enter the Basque hat:

Pattern: Basque Hat by DROPS Design (which means it’s free!)

Yarn: Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca DK from Knit Purl in Portland.

Thoughts:  How I love this hat.  It’s just that it’s so perfectly slouchy, and the color is so fabulously hand-dyed looking and rich, and the yarn is so soft, and the cute little picot hemmed edge?  Mad love.  You should make this hat.  Probably tomorrow.  Do it.

In other news, Favorite and I were featured on Green Wedding Shoes yesterday!  GWS is my absolute favorite wedding blog (the only one I still read, actually), and as we were planning our wedding, the mantra “Do it for Green Wedding Shoes” was heard often and loudly.  Needless to say, actually being featured (they’re notoriously picky) is sort of a dream.  Nothing like having an amazing photographer, a hot bridal party, and a super talented mom!  Here’s the post if you want to see.

I hope your day is just as full of dreams-come-true!

love.

Oh Karyn!! That is awesome!! I love the photos of your wedding. I wish we had been there. Looks like so much fun. As for the hat – not much to say. I tried hats once. My hair doesn’t like them. 😉

Hi! So, I found you through Pinterest.com. Someone posted a photo of a corsage from your wedding which led to the entire wedding album and I LOVED IT! You look like the kind of person I would hang out with when I live in Portland (24 months and counting!) Anyway, you really do seem quite interesting and I can’t wait to read more of your blog. I’m a knitter myself, but due to long work hours (60+/wk) I spend more time being a vegetable than knitting. That will change soon enough, I hope 🙂 I hope you have a great day and I love the hat! 🙂

Elizabeth- We will be here ready to welcome you to Portland in a couple years! Thank you for the sweet comment… I’m glad you found me! Maybe we’ll get to knit together when you live here. 🙂 love.

Congrats on having your wedding posted on one of your favorite blogs! I love absolutely everything about your wedding–the beautiful bride, the adoring groom, the gorgeous dress, your cardigan (so pretty!), the fantastic bouquets, your hair, the photos in the hardware store (amazing idea!), the desserts. I am so excited for you and Favorite. love.
